High times at Pre View restaurant

If the maxim that we ‘eat with our eyes’ holds true, then diners at Pre View are in for double the delight.
Four Seasons Hotel, The Westcliff

Perched atop the Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff, it’s safe to say that this luxe five-star property dishes up some of the finest views Johannesburg has to offer.

Pre View is something of the Goldilocks option at this iconic city hotel, where the Flames terrace is ideal for family dinners and casual after-work drinks, and View delivers multi-course epicurean adventures. But for a discreet date night with chic city cocktails, Pre View has your number.

High times at Pre View restaurantTo start, it’s a space with multiple personalities. At the windows, cosy two-seaters dish up those unforgettable views, while a stool at the sleek marble bar counter is ideal for solo travellers. Down the sides, banquettes are the most laid-back option, the place to swop the day’s deadlines for the drinks menu.

And it’s quite a menu. Alongside an enviable wine list blending boutique producers and iconic cellars, the cocktail list demands attention. There are stylish takes on the classics, but also their own bespoke creations. Don’t miss ‘Above the clouds’, a short and punchy blend of Johnnie Walker Gold Label, Caperitif, grapefruit, and kombucha.

The menu is equally on-trend, with small-plates built on global inspirations and local flavours. There’s ‘Braai’ed octopus’ with crushed potato and samphire, a taste of the Karoo with lamb and zucchini, or an Asian odyssey in glazed pork belly bao.

From the plates to the panoramas, Pre View is certainly easy on the eyes.
