In tribute to the Spider’s sleek lines and curvaceous form, Ferrari and Veuve Clicquot hosted this year’s gala event showcasing the latest fashions of three young and upcoming South African designers from 2014’s World Design Capital, Cape Town.
With models gilded by beauty brand Estée Lauder, Tamara Cherie’s refined designs, Imprint Z’s fluid individualism, and Lazuli’s detailed sophistication lit up the catwalk.
“We are privileged to collaborate with brands that are built from the heart with energy and passion at the core. In support of young designers, a platform was provided for them whereby their talents and creativity could be showcased, while also exhibiting how the luxe design of the new 488 Spider can be expressed in different ways,” said Mervyn Eagles, CEO of Scuderia South Africa.
Taking centre stage, however, was the automotive star of the show. The main runway was built to unveil the Ferrari 488 Spider and display its magnificent transformative qualities. The Italian brand’s most powerful and innovative Spider yet, with a RHT (Retractable Hard Top) and sultry curves, was exhibited after the fashion show. As ever, the Ferrari 488 Spider incorporates Pininfarina’s classical design whilst meeting modern technological aerodynamic requirements. Structural enhancements to the Spider remain intact in Modena’s latest stablemate.
