A double-sided artwork gifted by Steven Spielberg

Steven Spielberg gifted The Color Purple author,Alice Walker, a painting initially titled Man on White, Woman on Red by the African-American artist Bill Traylor after he completed the film adaptation of the novel in 1985. On the reverse the painting had another painting of a man and a dog.

This week’s Private Screening features Cara Zimmerman, a Christie’s specialist in Outsider Art. In this short video, she explains why this painting Steven Spielberg gave Alice Walker was significant.
