BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe visits the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2018

The Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este concluded yesterday after a weekend of festivities, but not before this heritage-proud event showcased a part of motoring's future - the BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe.

The Grand Hotel Villa d’Este on Northern Italy’s Lake Como plays host to the annual occasion that bears its name, and has done so since 1929. The event is an opportunity for classic and vintage cars owners to put their metal to the test in the ultimate competition of – get this – elegance. Top prize went to a 1958 Ferrari 335 Sport Spider, while a 1968 Alfa Romeo 33/2 Stradale, Coupé won favor with the crowds.

But while there was no ‘out with the old’, there was ‘in with the new’, thanks to a BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe that was spotted on the Villa d’Este grounds. Revealed in March at the Geneva Motor Show, the iridescent M8 forms part of BMW’s new 8 Series. On sale in 2020,  the M8 is projected by some to house a 4.4-liter biturbo V8 engine, with 600 horsepower. The car will also have a xDrive AWD system. Watch the reveal video below for more.
