The Safari Cottages Kenya

Nestled in a quiet river valley deep in Ol Pejeta Conservancy’s wilderness area, the Ol Pejeta Safari Cottages offer comfort, seclusion, exclusivity and a wonderful wildlife experience. .

Each of our three cottages has two ensuite bedrooms, sleeping four guests comfortably. The beds have been designed in a way that they can be converted to double or single. Two bed-loungers on the veranda can be converted in extra beds and moved into the bedrooms, should the need arise. The central open plan lounge and dining area is large and comfortable with a lovely big fire place. All rooms open out onto an extensive veranda which stretches the entire length of the cottage and provides an uninterrupted view of the surrounding wilderness onto the river. Twenty four hour power is supplied through an environmentally friendly solar system.

The Cottages are well spaced apart to ensuring maximum privacy. Each unit has a fully equipped external kitchen and comes with its own chef and waiter. So whether doing your own catering or letting us do the cooking for you, you can relax and enjoy the surroundings, while our staff caters for your every need.

Game Driving & Picnics

Ol Pejeta’s Southern corner abounds with game – elephants, lion, leopard, cheetah and the like can all be found here. An early morning drive down the river may reward you with a black rhino or leopard encounter. We encourage guests to leave early in the morning and take a picnic breakfast with them. Being out all morning will really increase your chances of spotting big game. Late afternoon game drives are also recommended, departing around 4.30 after a slice of cake and cup of tea. We will pack a sundowner for your afternoon drive so, when it starts to get dark you can park off somewhere with an epic view and watch the sunset. The perfect end to a day’s safari!

Aberdare Day Trips

Our cottages are located within one and a half hour’s drive of the Aberdares National Park. This spectacular range of mountains provides environments ranging from mountain and bamboo forest to open moorlands and mountain peaks, and is home to some of the country’s nearly forgotten critters. Here you can search for the elusive mountain bongo, giant forest hogs along with a huge variety of bird species, some of them endemic. 4WD vehicles are required and fee’s into the park are not included and are payable on entry. Trips to the Aberdares re subject to weather so be sure to enquire with us beforehand.
