Fine art for a fabulous cause: Own a beautiful piece of South African art while also supporting a worthy cause

Art, food, wine, and philanthropy will come together in perfect harmony this November, as Ellerman House again plays host to the annual ArtAngels charity art auction.

This is the 10th ArtAngels event hosted at Ellerman House for the benefit of Click Learning, an NGO that uses technology to set learners in no-fee primary schools on track with the foundational literacy, numeracy and digital skills they need to build sustainable livelihoods in the future. In addition, the auction invests back into the arts through the Blessing Ngobeni Art Prize and the ArtAngels Everard Read Bursary at Ruth Prowse School of Art (see the catalogue below for more details on the beneficiaries).

This year – for the first time! – the auction will be live-streamed and open for online bidding before and on the evening, enabling friends and past guests of Ellerman House, wherever they are in the world, to participate in the auction.
This year’s ArtAngels event – on 2 November 2023 – will see both invited and in-house guests at Ellerman House enjoy a memorable evening of food, wine and entertainment all in aid of supporting our local communities, a pillar of the Ellerman House philosophy.

Working with some of South Africa’s artists, with support of the leading galleries, ArtAngels has put together a remarkable catalogue of 40 works for this year’s auction. Featuring both established and emerging South African artists – across canvas, sculpture and mixed-media – successful bidders can look forward to owning creations by the likes of Deborah Bell, Blessing Ngobeni, Angus Taylor, Brett Murray and Dada Kanyisa to go under the hammer.
This event relies on the generosity of our sponsors, renowned local artists and participants, each of whom support Click Learning’s ultimate vision, the arts and a better future for South Africa. Strauss & Co supports this important initiative by waiving all commissions.

The auction catalogue is available online here, and those wishing to participate in the auction should pre-register using this link.
