For more than 170 years, Louis Vuitton has shaped the way the world travels. From its iconic trunks accompanying explorers across continents to its instantly recognisable luggage found in airports around the globe, the House has long elevated the journey itself. Now, Louis Vuitton is ushering in a new era of travel with the launch of the Horizon Aluminium, a sleek, innovative suitcase that blends exceptional engineering with the timeless elegance for which the Maison is renowned.

Created to celebrate a decade of collaboration between Louis Vuitton and acclaimed industrial designer Marc Newson, the Horizon Aluminium builds on the success of the original Horizon collection first introduced in 2016. Newson, whose work spans everything from furniture and aviation to luxury objects, has applied his signature minimalist approach to create a suitcase that feels as refined as it is functional.

The biggest evolution comes in the material itself. For the first time, Louis Vuitton has crafted a suitcase entirely from aluminium, a choice that pays tribute not only to Newson’s design language but also to the House’s own heritage. Long before modern luggage became commonplace, Louis Vuitton was creating aluminium trunks for explorers, making this latest release both a nod to the past and a step into the future.

While its clean silhouette appears effortlessly simple, the Horizon Aluminium is the result of remarkable engineering. The aluminium shell is carefully stamped and laser-cut before being embossed with Louis Vuitton’s iconic Monogram pattern, which serves not only as a distinctive design feature but also strengthens the case itself. Even more impressive is what you won’t see: traditional rivets and external hinges have been replaced with concealed mechanisms and an ultra-slim frame, resulting in what Louis Vuitton describes as the world’s first rivet-free aluminium suitcase.

Designed with today’s traveller in mind, every detail has been considered. An exterior-mounted trolley system creates a completely flat interior, maximising packing space, while extra-wide telescopic handles and enlarged shock-absorbing wheels ensure smooth, quiet movement through airports and city streets alike. Premium leather trims, TSA-approved locks and thoughtful additions, including a multifunctional leather luggage tag that doubles as a bag hook, complete the experience.

Of course, luxury travel is about more than aesthetics. Louis Vuitton has also embraced longevity, designing the Horizon Aluminum with care and repair in mind. Components such as the lining, wheels and leather details can be easily accessed, restored or replaced through Louis Vuitton’s in-store and regional workshop services, reinforcing the House’s commitment to craftsmanship that lasts beyond a single journey.

Alongside the suitcase, Louis Vuitton has also introduced a matching Horizon Aluminium Vanity Case, echoing the collection’s sleek design language with embossed aluminium, concealed hardware and a versatile interior that seamlessly attaches to the suitcase for effortless travel.

More than simply a new piece of luggage, the Horizon Aluminium represents Louis Vuitton’s enduring vision of the Art of Travel. Marrying heritage craftsmanship with cutting-edge innovation, it is a sophisticated companion designed for a new generation of globetrotters, one that proves the journey can be every bit as extraordinary as the destination.
