London Fashion Week is never a dull affair, the city known for both its boisterous up and coming designers and edgy established houses is a perfect place for Christian Louboutin to land. This season brought three new collaborations for us, taking to heart the fresh and innovative eye the city’s fashion week is known for.
First up, Fashion East designer A.V. Robertson transported us to an alien Garden of Eden with a sensuous bite. Iridescent bottoms were layered with sheer tops and slip dresses, while delicately embroidered vines and florals crept down arms and legs à la Poison Ivy. Separates imbued with phosphorescent green and vivid purple were paired with our iconic Pigalle in classic nude and black, landing the collection back on earth. To complete the outer-limits look, Robertson’s otherworldly temptresses flaunted Christian Louboutin manicures that channeled a DIY punk aesthetic, with graphic accents of Mula Lisa and Escatin on an inky black Kohl base designed by editorial manicurist Sophy Robson.
From the cosmos to making the everyday extraordinary, Palmer Harding played with classic dress shirting and layering with oversized cuffs and asymmetrical sleeves. Inspired by power dressing and individualism, Harding’s collection incorporated joyous volume and slightly exaggerated proportions, with robe-like belting to cinch it all in. The muted colour palette was given a graphic edge with snippets of artist Matthew King’s line work appearing on separates and dresses. Long, loose silhouettes and cascading hems were complemented by Christian Louboutin Dorissima in a spectrum of nudes and sock-style boots Noemi and Kristy.
London Fashion Week ended, perhaps unexpectedly, in 20th century Russia at David Koma. Inspired by the royal Romanov family with a futuristic twist, military hussar rope braiding and ballooning gigot sleeves met Plexiglass and trompe l’oeil chain macramé details. The family’s beloved Fabergé eggs surfaced in the collection’s vast embellishments as well as the intricate diamond patterns seen in crystal-covered fabrics. For the affair, bespoke low vamp Christian Louboutin ankle boots with diagonally placed side studs and leather roped sandals in black, beige and acid green escorted the futuristic, royal garb down the catwalk. Manicures and pedicures suited for nobility, applied by manicurist Jenny Longworth, created a regal look with two sweeps of Christian Louboutin Just Nothing topped off with a glowing coat of Loubi Gloss that sealed the final touch for London Fashion Week.
