Coco Safar’s intimate dessert bar experience in the Mother City

The trend-setting restaurant Coco Safar in Sea Point, Cape Town, recently set out to conceptualise an inspiring new dining experience called the DBE Culinary Voyage.

Dessert bar experiences are taking the world by storm (one such bar has just earned a Michelin Star in Berlin). Coco Safar’s executive chef Carmen Rueda has created her own version of it – it isn’t quite dessert, but it isn’t quite dinner either. The two meet somewhere in the middle with a delightful marriage of savoury and sweet, leaving no room for anything else once the 10 carefully paired courses are complete.

With only 12 seats per night, this is an intimate food theatre at its best. One-on-one interactions with Rueda mean that diners experience the inspiration behind each mind blowing course.
