Every spring, Johannesburg’s streets turn shades of purple as the jacaranda trees begin to bloom. At Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff, the season inspires a collection of experiences that celebrate the city at its most beautiful.
A spring-inspired tea
The Jacaranda Afternoon Tea returns until 30 November 2026, with daily seatings at 12pm and 3pm, bringing the colours of the season to the table.
Served in the Lobby Lounge & Bar overlooking Johannesburg’s leafy urban canopy, this year’s menu is created by Executive Pastry Chef Nathan Jacobs. Blueberry, blackberry, blackcurrant and cherry take centre stage across the sweet selection, drawing on the deep hues of the jacaranda blossom.
The savoury offerings bring balance, with beetroot-cured salmon, warm butter chicken pies and classic afternoon tea favourites. Together, the menu pairs the familiar ritual of English afternoon tea with a distinctly South African sense of place.
Served daily, the Westcliff Jacaranda Afternoon Tea is priced at R650 per person, including a glass of South African Méthode Cap Classique, while the Champagne edition costs R950 per person and includes a glass of Moët & Chandon Champagne.

Jacaranda cocktails at Flames
The seasonal celebration extends to Flames, the hotel’s award-winning open-fire restaurant, where a limited-edition jacaranda-inspired cocktail menu will be available throughout October and November.
Inspired by the violet shades that settle across the city each spring, the cocktails offer another way to mark the season. With panoramic views stretching across Johannesburg’s northern suburbs, Flames provides a striking vantage point for watching the sun set over the city.
A special weekend
On 24 and 25 October 2026, Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff partners with Joburg In Your Pocket to celebrate jacaranda season with a special weekend exploring one of Johannesburg’s most beautiful neighbourhoods.
Each morning begins with tea, coffee and light refreshments in the Lobby Lounge & Bar, before guests set off on a guided walk through Westcliff’s jacaranda-lined avenues. Led by local guides and specialists, the walks offer insight into the neighbourhood’s history, architecture and seasonal character.
Back at the hotel, the experience continues over a leisurely meal. Saturday the 24 October’s programme pairs the walk with the Jacaranda Afternoon Tea, while Sunday October 25th programme gives guests the choice of afternoon tea or brunch at Flames.
