Discover Lucian Freud’s portrait of Guinness family heir, Garech Browne

Celebrated British artist, Lucian Freud was a frequent visitor to the Guinness family home in Ireland, where he painted Head of a Small Boy. This magical retreat in Ireland also played host to a who’s who of artistic luminaries including The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Sir John Hurt, and Dennis Hopper.

This week’s Private Screening uncovers the intense and evocative example of Lucian Freud’s Head of a Boy, a small-scale work from the 1950s borne out of his intimate relationship with the sitter. The painting is a highlight of Sotheby’s upcoming Contemporary Art Evening Auction (5 March, London)
