Stellenzicht: The Acheulean Range; Ultra-premium Wines for an Elevated Tasting Experience

What sets the Acheulean Red apart?
The Acheulean Red is a bold and robust wine that is sure to impress even the most discerning wine connoisseur. This is an exquisite balance of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Syrah and 15% Cinsault. Powerful on entry, with integrated oak, a sumptuous red and black fruit, in a mesh of fine coated tannins, demands the palate’s attention. The Acheulean Red is perfect for pairing with hearty dishes or enjoying on its own.

Vinification
The grapes are hand picked in the morning. The Cabernet and Cinsault whole berries are fermented for 7- 10 days while the Syrah whole bunches ferment for up to 14 days. During fermentation the wines are pumped over two to three times a day. Some of the wines will get some extended skin contact before the wines are drained, pressed and racked to barrel. The wines are matured in 500L and 300L French oak barrels, with 40% new oak, for up to 18 months before it’s blended and bottled.

Discover the elegance of the Acheulean Chardonnay
The Acheulean Chardonnay is a sophisticated and elegant wine that is ideal for those who prefer a lighter, more refreshing option. Consisting of 100% Stellenbosch Wine of Origin Chardonnay grapes, this wine boasts a crisp acidity and a delightful balance of citrus and stone fruit, as well as oak flavors and amphora minerality. The Acheulean Chardonnay pairs beautifully with seafood, salads, or simply sipping on a warm afternoon.

Vinification
The grapes are hand harvested in the morning. Whole bunches are pressed while the cold juice goes to stainless steel tanks to settle. After 24h of settling, the juice is racked to Amphora pots and 500L barrels for fermentation. After fermentation is complete, the barrels/vessels are topped and all wine is left on the lees for up to 12 months. The tanks and barrels are racked off the lees just before bottling to make up the final blend.

Vintage
The Acheulean Chardonnay 2023 is our latest release of the year. We are very excited for this vintage as there is a freshness on the nose and palate that is invigorating and distinct. Perfect for lovers of Chardonnay.
