Several key areas are already reflecting this transformation, including the beautifully appointed Heritage Rooms, the 40 Tower Rooms with breathtaking views of Table Mountain, and the luxurious Taj Club Suites, all completed in October 2025. The remaining 50 rooms are set to be refreshed in the first quarter of 2026, completing the hotel’s full transformation.
This new look is notably fresher and lighter. Taj Cape Town has stayed true to the brand’s Indian heritage, paying tribute to its origins through a palette of varied colours, recalling the vibrancy of the dynamic sub-continent. However, the hotel now also acknowledges its unique natural surrounds and the very special city which is its home with a stunning depiction of Cape fynbos on wallpapers; a theme which is drawn through soft furnishings and scatter cushions. This links the hotel to the Cape’s own special heritage and its unique vantage point of Table Mountain, while creating a sense of space that roots visitors within the city.

Texture has also been used carefully and cleverly throughout the rooms. Refinement is very much a hallmark of the Taj experience, and this has been enhanced through the use of materials that have a distinct sensory appeal: plush velvets, luxe leathers and woven fabrics. The layering of these textures creates a sumptuous, multi-dimensional ambience while reflecting the attention to detail that is so very much a part of the hotel’s character.
“We are very proud of how all of these elements have come together,” says Mark Wernich, Cluster General Manager, Taj Cape Town. “Our exciting new look is in keeping with our award-winning international hotel brand and completes our hotel’s revitalisation: while it is contemporary and up to date, it also honours where we have come from. We can’t wait for our guests to experience our new look accommodation.”
