Time to start (or add to) your premium whisky collection

In anticipation of the upcoming Ultimate Whisky Collection sale, Sotheby’s has released a short film highlighting one of the most comprehensive catalogues of whisky ever to be offered at auction.

For some, investing in whisky rather than drinking it might be considered a cardinal sin. But with prices rising rapidly, many collectors are choosing to combine their passion for the spirit with a spot of speculation.

The Sotheby’s Ultimate Whisky Collection sale is a good place to start. It features no less than 178 bottlings from The Macallan Fine and Rare series and numerous iconic bottles from Scotland’s finest distilleries such as Glenfiddich, Mortlach, Glenlivet, Bowmore and The Dalmore.

This week’s Private Screening takes a look at the latest episode of Expert Voices by the auction house as Jonny Fowle, Sotheby’s spirits specialist, explains what you need to consider – from age statement and rarity to storage and design – when it comes to whisky.
