During an 18-year spell at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Henry Geldzahler was the Curator of American Art and the Contemporary Art, before serving as Commissioner of Cultural Affairs for New York City between 1977 and 1982 under Mayor Edward I. Koch.

This week’s Private Screening recalls Henry Geldzahler’s radical impact on New York’s art scene ahead of Christie’s Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening auction taking place in London at the beginning of March.
