Johannesburg is a city famed for its golden flair, so it’s no surprise that Bulgari, the Italian luxury brand known for its bold architectural designs, is opening its first South African boutique in Sandton.
Celebrated for combining gold with bold and brilliant-coloured gems in striking Italian design, Bulgari embodies passion, flair and the spirit of uniqueness – attributes shared with the city of gold.
When conceptualising the new boutique for South Africa, Bulgari’s designers and architects turned to the iconic flagship store at Via Condotti 10 in Rome. This famous boutique has housed some of the world’s most spectacular jewels and kept the secrets of the celebrities and patrons who have visited for over 100 years.
In 2014, celebrating its 130th anniversary, the Bulgari boutique at Via Condotti was refurbished by world-renowned American architect Peter Marino. Paying tribute to over 2700 years of Roman history, elements such as bronze, marble, and wood were carefully selected and implemented in the design. Bulgari’s new Sandton City boutique is set to echo the grandeur of the Peter Marino concept.
The opening of Bulgari’s Johannesburg boutique marks not only an important chapter in the over 130 years of the Italian luxury goods brand’s history but an a bold new experience for South Africa’s most stylish too. Doors are expected to open in late April or early May.
