The original, launched in 2001, staked its claim
as the watch of pilots, and the new duo – chronograph and automatic – seemingly adds ‘fighter’ to the phrase, so hardcore are the pieces. Military detailing includes black, blue, green and sand-coloured dials drawn from uniform shades and military-grade leather straps with folding pin buckles or a three-row stainless-steel bracelet with micro-adjustable folding clasp.
Pick of the litter has to be the yellow-faced, yellow-strapped 44mm Chronograph (it’s jump-out striking), the trademark red second hand distinctive against the canary and black inner dials. The addition of the powerhouse Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01 movement to the Chronograph completes the picture. Spectacular.
