A $13.7 million diamond

According to Forbes, an 88.22-carat oval diamond sold for over $13.7 million at the Hong Kong Sale of Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite surpassing the initial $12.7 million estimate. The D colour gem was part of the sale of 200 jewels.

“We were thrilled to handle a diamond of such rarity, which now takes its place in the roster of top white diamonds to have come to the market here at Sotheby’s Asia,” said Patti Wong, Sotheby’s chairman in Asia.

A rare legend

This May, Phillips, in Association with Bacs & Russo, have discovered one of the most sought-after wristwatches ever made: a Vacheron Constantin minute repeater yellow gold wristwatch with retrograde calendar from 1940. Known as the “Don Pancho” in reference to its owner’s nickname, the timepiece was kept by the family of the original owner in a vault for over 60 years and is one of the most complicated wristwatches ever produced at the time, when horology was pure genius and art.

Scotch whisky connoisseurs can now own a piece of history with the global release of The Glenlivet Winchester Collection Vintage 1967, a blend of rare single malts, the youngest of which was laid down by former The Glenlivet Master Distiller, Robert Arthur in 1967.
