You can now book a NASA-approved stay at the international space station
According to the NASA’S press release, this effort is intended to broaden the scope of commercial activity on the space station beyond the ISS National Lab mandate, which is limited to research and development. A new NASA directive will enable commercial manufacturing and production and allow both NASA and private astronauts to conduct new commercial activities aboard the orbiting laboratory.
This Monet painting could fetch up to $44 million
Claude Monet’s 1908 masterwork, Nymphéas, will lead the upcoming Sotheby’s Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale in London on 19 June. It’s been said this oil painting has gone unseen for 87 years and has been in a private family collection. This auction comes a month after Monet set a new artist record with the sale of Meules, which sold for $110.7 million at Sotheby’s New York.
This Tintin original cover sold for $1.2million
Earlier this month, the 1930 first cover appearance of Tintin, from artist Hergé’s The Adventures of Tintin Vol. 1: Tintin in the Land of the Soviets, sold for $1.2 million at Heritage Auctions. The original artwork surfaced in Europe and is a remarkable discovery of one of the few known privately owned cover illustrations signed by Hergé, and also the oldest.
Southern Guild takes African design to PAD London
Later this year, one of Africa’s foremost galleries for collectible design, Southern Guild, will exhibit at PAD London for the first time. The Cape Town gallery will exhibit unique and limited-edition pieces that showcase the exquisite craftsmanship and rich narratives that make South African design unique. The exhibit will include Kenyan sculptor Stanislaw Trzebinski’s work from his 2019 solo In the Absence of Light and acclaimed fashion designer Rich Mnisi’s Nwa-Mulamula chaise inspired by the memory of his late great-grandmother.
