Developed by Kurt Klaus in the 1980s and composed of about 80 individual parts, IWC’s perpetual calendar is simple and elegant. The perfectly synchronised displays can be set via the crown. Originally build on the humble Valjoux 7750, Klaus’s perpetual calendar is engineered to track the days, date and month without being reset until the year 2100.
The in-house IWC 52615 automatic winding system was developed by another IWC legend, Albert Pellaton and outfitted with ceramic components that were chosen for long-term durability. The double moon phase display, showing a mirror image of the moon as seen by observers in the northern and southern hemispheres make this watch stand out. That, and the winding system that builds up a power reserve of 7 days with the help of an 18-carat gold rotor.
