The final contemporary art sale of the year ended with an extraordinary total of over $48 million, taking the overall total for 2019 in this field to $104.4 million at Sotheby’s France: a record result, up to 15% compared with 2018. This last sale, which saw 11 lots sold over a million euro, achieved several auction records, including a work on paper by Jean Dubuffet which sold for over $4 million. 

A new James Bond timepiece

The 25th official James Bond film, No Time To Die, will be released in April 2020 and Omega has unveiled the new timepiece that will be worn by 007 in the film. As well as appearing on screen, this will also be made available in Omega’s current collection from February. With the help from Daniel Craig himself along with the 007 producers, the new Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition crafted from Grade 2 Titanium has been built with military needs. 

Aston Martin takes to the skies

Aston Martin Lagonda and Airbus Corporate Helicopters have revealed a new partnership that brings together the best of automotive and aeronautical design. For the past year designers from both brands have worked together on the aesthetic styling of the first product from this collaboration. They’re not saying what the product is yet but it’s set to be revealed in early 2020.

The perfect whisky collection

According to Forbes, Whisky Auctioneer will be selling 3 900 bottles across two auctions in 2020. The Perfect Collection includes bottles from former PepsiCo bottling magnate, Richard Gooding, and is estimated to fetch $10.5 million. Among the bottles is the largest collection of The Macallan ever to go to auction, including the 1926 Valerio Adami and 1926 Fine & Rare 60-year-old bottlings.
