Edition 75: The Luxury Briefing

Watch as Dior reimagines modern-day goddesses with this Spring-Summer 2020 haute couture collection, and Bentley introduces its most complex interior yet in this week’s briefing.
This Corvette C8 sold for $3 Million

According to Forbes, the very first production model of the first mid-engine Corvette went up for auction at Barrett-Jackson and sold for $3 million. Rick Hendrick, the NASCAR team owner, bought the red Chevrolet-produced car for way more than the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $59 995.

Modern-day goddesses reimagined by Dior

Inspired by ancient costumes and classical representations of goddesses, the Dior Spring-Summer 2020 haute couture collection embodies the luxury French manufacturer’s excellence in fashion design. The haute couture silhouettes suggest a combination of intellectual strength and aesthetic harmony. The collection designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, the creative director for Dior Women, was presented at the Musée Rodin in Paris.

Is this the most complex Bentley interior yet?

With the new Flying Spur, Bentley has pulled out all of the innovative stops with a handcrafted interior, presenting one of the car manufacturer’s most sophisticated and luxuriously stitched cabin. Each cabin is stitched together with over three kilometres of thread.

All leather hides found in the interior of the Flying Spur are sustainably sourced from Northern European bulls, entirely as by-products of the meat industry. The more temperate climate zones ensure there are fewer parasites and the leather remains naturally blemish-free. Bentley customers have the luxury of choosing from as many as 14 interior leather hide colours.
